Symposium at UC Davis showcases range of medical applications for light-based technologies

We hosted our inaugural Interventional Biophotonics Week on the UC Davis campus from July 17 - July 21. The hybrid in-person and virtual event brought together leading researchers of the NCIBT and around the world to exchange ideas, foster collaboration, and celebrate the launch of NCIBT at UC Davis.

This workshop is a fundamental component of the center’s education and training. It consisted of a two-day Scientific Symposium, featuring Keynote lectures by well-recognized experts in the fields of optical imaging, as well as interactive audience panels on topics like “AI in Biomedical Engineering”. The symposium was followed by a three-day Biophotonics Summer School in which engineering students and postdoctoral scholars learned from didactic sessions, group discussions, laboratory demonstrations, introductions to clinical environments, and hands-on training with NCIBT instruments. The event was highly reviewed by participants, and we are already excited to be planning for next year’s event, which will take place at UC Davis from July 22 - 26, 2024.
